2010 World Cup Soccer
     

South Africa was host to the very successful and festive 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup from 11 June to 11 July 2010 in which 32 soccer teams from various countries around the world challenged each other to be the best.

The 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup took place in 10 stadiums across South Africa in 9 cities.

FIFA, the world football governing body, awarded the 2010 World Cup host country to South Africa. At 12:21 on 15 May 2004, history was made, it was the time of Africa and South Africa to stage the FIFA World Cup.  With 14 votes, South Africa was declared as winner after just one round of voting. 

South Africa will be the 16th country and the first African country to host the 19th World Cup. Four other African countries submitted bids to be host-nation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
